Last night, Kanye West premiered the music video for his latest single “Famous” from his new album The Life Of Pablo before a packed crowd at the Forum arena in Inglewood, California.
In true Kanye fashion, the live visual premiere was an event to remember as eager fans and a few familiar Hollywood faces were on hand to see it in person, while the rest of the world watched via an exclusive Tidal livestream. Notable attendees included wife Kim Kardashian, The Game, French Montana, Terrence J, Kris Jenner, 2 Chainz, Kylie Jenner and Tyga, among others.
Never one to disappoint when it comes to pushing the creativity envelope as far as it can possibly go while also causing plenty of controversy in the process, Kanye definitely out did himself with the video short for “Famous.” The shockingly artistic visual drew inspiration from a 2003 mural done by artist Vincent Desiderio titled “Sleep,” which features 12 naked and partially clothed bodies side by side in a bed together while asleep in various positions. Kanye put his own twist on the concept by having his subjects completely naked, with some partially covered by bed sheets. These “subjects” included a who’s who of pop culture’s most infamous celebrities like Rihanna (who’s actually featured on the song), Donald Trump, Amber Rose, Ray J, Taylor Swift, Bill Cosby, wife Kim Kardashian and Kanye himself, to name a few.
Although the bodies used in Kanye’s video appear to be wax figures and not real people, needless to say, it instantly drew in a slew of reactions on social media. Among those who shared a response was none other than Chris Brown, who was one of the celebs to have a wax figure in his likeness included in the video. Chris took to his Instagram page with a light-hearted message about his involuntary cameo in the video a few hours after it premiered.
