Meet Delrawn Small–he was a 37-year-old Brooklyn man who was shot and killed on Monday by an off-duty police officer.
Small was involved in a road rage incident with the officer when a witness said Small’s car was cut off the road.
According to investigators, Small and his family were driving to celebrate the holiday. Small encountered the officer identified as Wayne Isaacs in their respective vehicles and while the two were stopped at a traffic light, Small exited the vehicle and turned violent toward Issacs resulting in the officer firing upon him three times at point-blank range with his service weapon.
Watching in complete horror as the fatal incident unfolded were Small’s girlfriend, Zaquanna Albert, and their young children.
Albert wrote a heartfelt message on Facebook Monday afternoon after the devestating ordeal, posting pictures of she and Small along with their son.
“Words can’t begin to explain,” she began. “The pain I feel right now. I appreciate all the prayers and well wishes. But my heart aches for this Man and my son who will never remember his Dad and a Great dad he was to my Baby.”
According to the New York Daily News, authorities have refused to release video footage of the incident depite public outcry and demand for such.
