Since the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castle, celebs have been urging others to join in the fight against hate. The most recent call to action is from Teyonah Parris.
The actress sat down with The Huffington Post to discuss her role in Survivor’s Remorse, but Parris also had a powerful message for white America. “Dear white people… when your black brothers and sisters are in pain and hurting, it also affects you and it would behoove you to help, to be a voice, to stand in solidarity with them [against] these awful injustices that are so clear to everyone via cell phone videos, to stand with them and support them and to be a voice, and know that it matters. It matters. Your voice matters just like ours, but obviously we are stronger together.”
Parris has been vocal about her support of the Black Lives Matter movement, tweeting last week, “All Lives Can’t Matter unless #BLACKLivesMatter. #AltonSterling #PhilandoCastile.” Parris ended her call to action by saying, “We are human and we matter, and it would be amazing if you could join with us in this fight.”
