Chirlane McCray, First Lady of New York, gets real about the upcoming elections. In an interview with Jezebel, McCray speaks candidly about the “Bernie or bust” movement.
She referred to the protests and promises to never vote for Hillary as “distressing.”
“Look, there’s always going to be people on the margins,” she noted. “But I do believe that come November, most of us – independents, even, and some Republicans – are going to make the right choice.”
“I mean, look at the other candidate. That’s not a responsible choice. The number one Bernie supporter, Bernie Sanders himself, my husband and I had a chance to sit down and talk with him; we’re all on the same page here,” she affirmed.
McCray even discloses that her children, who once felt the “bern” of Sanders, would be voting for Hillary Clinton this election.
“It’s not the person, it’s the future of our country, and we all have to be part of that,” McCray warns. “My kids are going to be voting for Hillary. They were Bernie supporters; they know what the responsible choice is,” said McCray.
And as for her views on the Democratic Party nominee for president? “I’m happy that I know so much about her,” McCray stated.
