Ms. Fenty will join an impressive list of previous MJ Video Vanguard Award recipients including Kanye West, Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake. The coveted award is MTV’s equivalent of the Lifetime Achievement Award and was created in 1984 to highlight the achievements of an entertainer who has dominated in music, fashion, film and philanthropy.
Rihanna is nominated in multiple categories at this year’s VMAs, including Best Female Video for “Work” and Best Male Video for her appearance alongside Calvin Harris in “This Is What You Came For.”
