Back in July, we first noticed Tika Sumpter’s baby bump during her induction as an honorary member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Since then, the actress has remained pretty tight-lipped about her pregnancy, just recently confirming it on Instagram in a photo with John Legend, “Preggers and promoting w Legend. Happy and proud. #Southsidewithyou #Aug26th @johnlegend.”
Sumpter is currently promoting Southside With You, a film about Barack and Michelle Obama’s first date. A source close to the star told PEOPLE that The Have and Have Nots actress is expecting a girl this fall and that “she’s super happy.” The mommy-to-be also told Entertainment Tonight, “I’m feeling good! It really has been so easy, you know, and fun.”
She also added that she’s very excited about her role in Southside With You and the opportunity for her daughter to see it one day. “I just feel like the world has shifted so much. I feel like we’re in the forefront right now and we’re so in control of our destiny,” she said. “This is like a gift to my daughter. You can really do anything you want to do and be great at it.”
