Last weekend, Olympian Michelle Carter made history as the first American woman to claim gold in the shot-putter competition. Although commentators expected three-time champion Valerie Adams to win, Carter clinched the title instead with a 67-foot throw.
Since her groundbreaking moment, the Texan has also been crowned a body positive icon in the making.
“If you are feeling good, you look good,” says Carter of her mindset on the field. “If you are confident about yourself, you are going to go out there and you will rock it.”
One of the ways Michelle embodies this ethos is through her beauty routine. As a certified makeup artist, products play a huge role in how the curvy competitor preps for a big meet.
“I’m obsessed with false eyelashes, and even today, as an Olympic athlete, I always get my nails done a couple of days before a meet, and decide on a hairstyle, too,” she recently told Redbook.
“The night before, I’ll lay out the makeup I want to put on: a brow filler, a lipstick-there’s a NYX red one that looks great with those Team USA uniforms-and my lashes. I have to have my lashes. For me, it all sets the tone: I’m getting ready to go to work.”
As it turns out, Michelle’s Instagram account is also a product hoarder’s paradise:
