The body of a 15-year-old New York girl who was killed while attempting to save her friend from being abducted has been found.
According to Fox31 News, Nisa Mickens and her 16-year-old friend Kayla Cuevas were walking in the Brentwood area when family members say local gang members attempted to kidnap Cuevas.
Investigators believe Mickens appeared to have tried to fight off their attacker but was killed in the process.

A motorist who noticed a body on the side of the road called 9-1-1 to report the sighting on Wednesday, which led law enforcement to the scene.
They later determined that it was Mickens.
Police reportedly found at least 10 injuries consistent with Mickens being beaten to death and possibly struck by a car. A body matching the description of Cuevas was also found later on that day.
Mickens’ mother Elizabeth Aldorado described the teen as “resilient” and selfless. “My daughter is very resilient,” she told the news outlet. “She worries about other people before worrying about herself.”
Mickens would have celebrated her 16th birthday this past Thursday.
