Nigerian rapper, WizKid has another summer hit on his hands.
The 26-year-old talent recently released the visuals for his new song, “Come Closer,” featuring Drake and the response has set the Internet on fire. In the vibrant video, a beautiful spectrum of Black women are shown dancing and sitting pretty. The ladies wear African print head wraps, jean/kente shorts, and have Igbo face markings— lifting up the beauty of traditional African adornment in a modern way.
The increasingly popular song is from WizKid’s fourth-coming album, Sounds From the Other Side.
Last year, the talent made waves when he broke records by appearing on Drake’s “One Dance” hit, which was streamed over a billion times on Spotify. The pair have also collaborated together on the remix of “Ojuelegba”.

As noted by OkayAfrica, the association with Drake and resemblances to other summer hits will appeal to both stations, but on different wavelengths. Many will be glad to have this year’s “Work” or “One Dance,” while others will be glad one of theirs is now a major player in such a lucrative field.
In 2016, WizKid joined Chris Brown’s “One Hell of a Nite” tour and just last month he signed a multi-album deal with RCA Records.
