You’ve seen their love unfold on TV. You saw their romantic proposal in Spain. And now, the moment we’ve been waiting for is here. The Bachelorette star Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo are officially husband and wife!
The couple exchanged vows in a beautiful “island chic” ceremony in Mexico, recruiting celebrity wedding planner Mikie Russo to put together their gorgeous ceremony filled with lush green and white florals. The first photos shared with People show Rachel in a two-piece Randi Rahm wedding gown and her new hubby in a cream and black tuxedo. “We are overwhelmed by all the love and support,” Abasolo told the magazine. “This is our next chapter.”
The tropical location was the perfect middle ground for the two, since Abasolo had family traveling in Colombia and both of them had friends and family coming in from Texas and Florida.
ESSENCE spoke with Lindsay exclusively at The Knot Registry Hampton’s House last month. The TV star revealed her planning process while teasing some details of her dress. “What I’ve learned is that I’m a much more traditional bride than I would like to admit,” she says. “My invitations and my dress are very traditional. The reason I describe it as traditional is because I [originally] wanted pants. But it is a little bit risque. People might be shocked at my choice, but it is very me.”
The wedding reception was nothing short of a good time. The bride switched up her look by wearing custom bridal shorts and danced with her dad, Sam Lindsay, to “Before I Let Go.” Lindsay told People that the day was perfect…and felt so short. “It went by so fast,” Rachel says. “But our wedding was about us. It was about the life we built together outside of [The Bachelorette]. And we stayed true to who we are. No red roses!”
