Everyone knows that New Orleans is full of delicious food that just soothes the soul, but if you’re on the journey to snatched-ville, eating some of your favorite soul food dishes can be a set up for failure.
Thankfully Chef Jernard Wells hit the ESSENCE Eats stage at Essence Festival on Friday to show us all how to create a new soul classic that is both healthy and tasty.
After blessing the audience with a quick dance to Afrobeats star Davido, Chef Wells whipped up some of his delicious low-carb creamy garlic and mushroom parmesan chicken.
Just the sound of it sounds good right?!
The delicious dish was lighter than you might find in restaurants, but it was still chockful of healthy flavors like onions, cremini mushrooms and chicken stock.
Even the audience agreed that Chef Wells’ new spin on this soul food classic was worthy of all the praise.
We don’t know about you, but we’ll be picking up Chef Wells’ cookbook ‘Southern Modified’ so we can try this recipe for ourselves at home!
