Erykah Badu’s mama apparently loved Outkast’s hit song “Ms. Jackson,” just as much as the rest of us.
During a revealing sit down on the Rap Radar podcast last week, Badu revealed the comical effect that the infamous single had on her life, in the midst of confirming that it was indeed about her.

Badu and Andre 3000 dated in the ’90s, a relationship that produced their now 19-year-old son, Seven Sirius Benjamin. The song was an apology of sorts, written after the couple broke up.
“I’m sorry Ms. Jackson, I am for real,” the chorus starts. “Never meant to make your daughter cry, I apologize a trillion times.”
Badu said hearing Andre 3000’s verses on the song was great, but admitted Big Boi’s verse hit a soft spot.
“When I heard André’s verse, I felt very good because his verse was really, really inspiring,” she said. “He just told how he felt and I’ve always respected that and listened to what he felt and appreciated it.”
As for Badu’s mother, she bought all kinds of paraphernalia bearing the phrase “Ms. Jackson,” because she loved it, Badu says.
“Baby, she bought herself a ‘Ms. Jackson’ license plate. She had the mug, she had the ink pen, she had the headband, everything. That’s who loved it.”
Too funny!
