Let’s get straight to the point: Kerry Washington looked every bit of a bombshell when she hit the red carpet at the 2015 Academy Awards. If you were wondering what products were used and how you can copy her look (did you notice the hint of color on her bangs?) you’ve come to the right place. Take a look and get your Olivia Pope on.
Makeup
Kerry’s flawless skin is a combination of makeup artist Carola Gonzalez working Neutrogena’s Hydra Boost Gel and Neutrogena’s Shine Control Primer into her face. Once fully absorbed, Gonzalez applied Marc Jacobs’ Beauty Genius Gel Oil free foundation in Cocoa Light to even out her complexion.
Next, Gonzalez proceeded with Kerry’s eyes using Neutrogena Long Wear Nourishing Eyeshadow palette in Cocoa Mauve 40. To give more dimension, Gonzalez applied eyeshadow #2, from the palette, all over her eyelid and then applied eyeshadow #1 on the crease of her eyes. Next, she lined her lower lash line with eyeshadow #4 to add some depth to the eye makeup, followed by Neutrogena Nourishing eyeliner in Cosmic black. For an extra wow factor, Gonzalez added Velour fake lashes in Complete Me, to lift the eye and applied a few coats of mascara to her upper and lower lashes with Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black.
“I’ve been experiencing a lot of pastel shades around my surroundings lately, and they were the biggest inspiration for my makeup selection, which actually went hand in hand with the dress,” said Gonzalez.
For the cheeks Gonzalez chose to apply Neutrogena Healthy Custom Glow Blush and Bronzer in Raisin Glow from the apple of the cheek in an upward motion towards the temples. Lastly, because Gonzalez wanted to keep the makeup within a pastel palette, she opted with a light shade of pink—lip liner layered with Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Color Stick in Healthy Peach which created the perfect combo for the finished look.
Hair
To get Kerry’s soft lustrous hair, hairstylist, Takisha Sturdivant-Drew shampooed Kerry with Neutrogena Triple Repair Fortifying Shampoo. “After I toweled dried her hair I blow dried it with a comb attachment upside down to give her hair extra body and then added a dime size of the Neutrogena Triple Repair Leave-In treatment to protect her hair from the heat and styling tools,” says Sturdivant-Drew.
Next, Sturdivant-Drew sectioned off her hair in the back and took small sections and smoothed it out with a Sultra Beauty 1 inch Cult Classic flat iron. To add volume, Sturdivant-Drew used the Sultra Beauty Bombshell 1.5 inch Rod Curling Iron, followed by lightly misting her hair with Oribe Superfine Hair Spray.
