Music fans can look forward to a star-studded event with the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, if their newly released list of nominees is any indication.
Leading the pack is Drake with 22 nominations. The 30-year-old released his fourth studio album in 2016 titled Views. The album included features from Rihanna, ESSENCE Festival performer Wiz Kid and PARTYNEXTDOOR.
Speaking of Rihanna, the “Needed Me” singer grabbed 14 nominations, The Weeknd snagged 13 and Beyoncé received eight for Lemonade. Nicki Minaj was only nominated for one award — the Billboard Chart Achievement Award Presented by Xfinity.
Noticeably missing from the list is Solange for her highly-acclaimed third studio album, A Seat at the Table.
A full list of all the nominees can be found here.
Unlike other awards, Billboard partners with Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound to nominate artists based on sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement data from March of the previous year to the current year’s March.
