It’s that time of year again!
We are gearing up for our eighth annual Black Women in Hollywood ceremony, and our guest list just got even hotter.
Last month, we announced that we would be honoring members of the Orange is the New Black cast along with Regina King, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and legendary costume designer Ruth Carther.
Our honorees will be joined by our 2014 Best Breakthrough Performance award-winner Lupita Nyong’o, who will be presenting the award to the seven OITNB honorees; Book of Negroes star Cuba Gooding Jr., who will recognize King; Selma actor David Oyelowo, who will be introducing Mbatha-Raw; Selma director Ava DuVernay, who will be presenting to Carter; and Beyond the Lights director Gina Prince Bythewood will be honoring our ESSENCE Short Film Contest Winner.
Everyone’s favorite renaissance woman Oprah Winfrey will be opening the program, and John Legend and Common will perform what is sure to be a show-stopping performance of their Oscar-nominated song, “Glory.”
Visit ESSENCE.com on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 2:30 pm EST to view a live stream of the red carpet.
