The Critics’ Choice Awards aired Sunday night, ushering in awards season and giving us a glimpse of what to expect at the Golden Globes and Oscars.
Moonlight was one of the best films of the year, receiving tons of praise from critics and landing on numerous end of year lists, so it’s no surprise that the Barry Jenkins film took home Best Acting Ensemble.

Viola Davis’ flawless turn in Fences landed her Best Supporting Actress, the How To Get Way With Murder star also received the first ever #SeeHer award, telling the crowd, “I truly believe that the privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.”
Celebrities congratulated the actress on her award and the work she continues to do on behalf of women.
Many of our television faves scooped up awards as well. Thandie Newton took home Best Support Actress in a Drama Series for HBO’s much talked about Westworld and Regina King earned a Best Supporting Actress win for American Crime.
Donald Glover’s much deserved win for Atlanta comes as no surprise. The show was one of the most talked about of the year, earning praise from fans and critics. Atlanta was renewed for a second season three episodes into its first.
Sterling K. Brown also earned a win for his turn in The People v. O.J. Simspon. Brown is also garnering praise for his current role on NBC’s This Is Us.
