Kerry Washington just earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for her performance in the hit political drama, Scandal.
Emmy nominations came in Thursday morning and revealed that Washington is up for the Lead Actress in a Drama Series award. A Black actress has not been nominated for the award since 1994 when Cicely Tyson received the nomination.
This is the first time the 36-year-old actress has ever received an Emmy nomination and she plans on bringing more salacious drama starting October 3, when season three of Scandal premieres.
Starting in August, Gladiators can catch up on the first two seasons of Scandal on BET, as the network has entered a new syndication deal with ABC, allowing it to air reruns of the series.
Also in the runnings for an Emmy award is House of Lies star Don Cheadle for the Lead Actor In A Comedy Series award. This will be the sixth Emmy nomination the actor has received throughout his career.
Alfre Woodard is also nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for her performance in the Lifetime original movie Steel Magnolias.
See who wins big at the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards airing live on CBS, September 22.
