Kerry Washington made every Gladiators dream come true while on the Emmys red carpet and shared some news about the upcoming season of Scandal.
“There’s a lot of Abby this season, which is really good because Abby and Olivia Pope have a very complicated relationship,” she told E! News at the Emmys. “That’s going to be yummy.”
Complicated is definitely the right word to describe Abby and Olivia’s relationship. The two have lied and deceived each other throughout the series but always manage to ultimately remain loyal to one another. We can’t wait to see where creator Shonda Rhimes takes their friendship next.
Washington was also one, if not the only, celebrity to mention Michael Brown at the Emmys.
When asked if she’d thought about the fact that she could make Emmy history (becoming the first African American to win the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama) she paused and then replied, “This has been a really complicated day for me. I started the day watching the funeral services for Michael Brown. And so it’s a lot to wrap your head around being an African American in this country right now.”
