When Black-ish actress Tracee Ellis Ross found out she’d been nominated for her first Emmy award, her first phone call was to her mom, Diana Ross.
“I got up and I ran and danced weirdly around my dining room,” Ross told People. “Then I opened my front door and I don’t know where I thought I was trying to go, so I closed the door and I called my mom. She was really cute and we screamed for a little bit.”
Her Black-ish co-star Anthony Anderson was also nominated for outstanding lead actor in a comedy. But Ross says she is most excited for the show’s nomination for outstanding comedy series.
“I was really excited when Anthony got nominated, then I was really excited when I got nominated, but the truth is that my thrill and over the moon-ness came from the show getting nominated,” she says.
The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles September 18th.
