Talk about a winning moment!
Tonight, 12 Years a Slave took home the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture.
The historical drama was nominated dozens of times thus far this awards season and tonight’s incredible win was just the juice it needs heading into Thursday’s Oscar nomination announcements.
Director Steve McQueen accepted the award on behalf of the cast. He shared that he was not only shocked to win, but was thankful to the cast for their hard work on getting the film made.
Earlier in the night, McQueen lost in the Best Director category to Gravity director, Alfonso Cuarón. Actors Chiwetel Ejiofor and Lupita Nyong’o also lost for Best Actor in a Drama and Best Supporting Actress respectively.
Just recently, the drama earned 10 BAFTA nominations, multiple NAACP Image Award nominations, 13 Critics Choice nominations and a handful of SAG nominations.
Congrats to the cast and director of 12 Years a Slave.
