Denzel Washington is officially taking awards season by storm!
His performance as Whip Whitaker in Flight has already landed him major recognition across Hollywood. Now, the actor can add a Golden Globe nomination to his growing list.
Washington is nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama, a category in which he is up against Daniel Day-Lewis of Lincoln, Richard Gere of Arbitrage, John Hawkes of The Sessions and Joaquin Phoenix of the The Master.
Django Unchained, starring Jamie Foxx and Kerry Washington, earned five Golden Globe nominations and Don Cheadle of Showtime’s House of Lies is a contender for Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series, Comedy.
Washington’s other nominations for Flight include a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role and two NAACP Image Award noms for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture and Outstanding Motion Picture.
The actor previously won two Academy Awards, two Golden Globes and 13 NAACP Image Awards.
