Last night’s Golden Globe Awards was filled with fashion, emotion, and lots of moments that made us groan as we watched.
For starters, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler made a scandalous joke about Bill Cosby drugging women that made the audience give a collective gasp of shock. The hosts followed that up with a not-so-hilarious portrayal of Margaret Cho as an uptight North Korean woman dressed in a soldier’s uniform. What was meant to be a stab at the North Korea’s alleged Sony hack turned uncomfortably racist as the night went on.
Tina and Amy weren’t the only ones making us sigh with frustration. When comedian Ricky Gervais presented the award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical, he completely butchered Quvenzhané Wallis’ name. Really, Ricky?
And perhaps the most disappointing moment of all was watching Selma get passed over again and again, and again, in the Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Picture categories. We were all on the edge of their seats when these categories came up.
