Nominations for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards were revealed last night, and, as expected, they caused a minor stir in the music biz, and among fans on social media. There were a few snubs (wait, no Nicki Minaj?) and expected nods (Kanye West, Jay-Z, Beyonce). But what we’re most excited about are our favorite R&B artists (some newcomers, some just underrated) who got the nods we think they so deserved.
Frank Ocean was nominated for six Grammys, including Record Of The Year (“Thinkin Bout You”), Album of the Year and Best New Artist. Miguel follows with five nominations, including Best R&B Song for “Adorn” and Best Urban Contemporary Album for Kaleidoscope Dream. Newcomer Elle Varner was also nominated for Best R&B Song for “Refill,” and ESSENCE Music Festival alums Luke James and the Robert Glasper Experiment were both nominated for Best R&B Performance — James for “I Want You” and Glasper for “Gonna Be Alright (F.T.B.)” featuring Ledisi.
So tell us, which of these artists do you think is most deserving of their nominations? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
