Red carpet season is moving full steam ahead.
Today, the 2014 NAACP Image Award nominations were announced. These nods are pretty much in line with what the rest of Hollywood has been buzzing about.
Historical drama 12 Years a Slave earned four nominations: Outstanding Motion Picture, Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture (Alfre Woodard and Lupita Nyong’o).
Fruitvale Station also picked up several nominations: Outstanding Motion Picture, Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture (Michael B. Jordan) and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture (Octavia Spencer).
Not to be outdone, The Butler earned several key nominations in many the same categories. Forest Whitaker picked up an Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture nomination, David Oyelowo picked up a nod in the supporting actor category along with Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr. Oprah Winfrey earned a nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture category.
On the music front, Bruno Mars, Charlie Wilson, John Legend, Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke will go head-to-head in the Outstanding Male Artist category while Beyoncé, India.Arie, Janeelle Monáe, Ledisi and Mary J. Blige will compete in the Outstanding Female Artist category.
