We’re gearing up for award season and this year, Black excellence is taking over.
Announced Wednesday morning, the 2017 SAG Award nominations gave nods to 15 actors, actress and films of color.
Sprinkled throughout the category for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role was nothing but Black Girl Magic as three out of the five nominees included Fences star Viola Davis for her role as Rose Maxson, Naomie Harris in Moonlight and Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer as Dorothy Vaughan in the forthcoming motion picture, Hidden Figures.
Fences, Hidden Figures and Moonlight scored a nod for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
Continuing to rack up nominations during award season are Courtney B. Vance and Sterling K. Brown—-both actors scored recognition for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for their respective roles in The People V. O.J. Simpson as Johnnie Cochran and Christopher Darden.

Brown also scored a nom for his role as Randall Pearson in the new NBC show, This is Us for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series.
Both Kerry Washington and Audra McDonald are up for a SAG in the category Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for their roles in Confirmation and Lady Day At Emerson’s Bar & Grill.
A nod for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series goes to Thandie Newton for her role in the HBO series, Westworld.
Anthony Anderson and Uzo Aduba received nominations for their roles in ABC’s Black-ish and Netflix’s Orange is the New Black, for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.
