Tamar Braxton continues to ride a recent wave of success. The songstress earned five Soul Train Awards nominations today.
According to USA Today, she’s up for Best New Artist, Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, Song of the Year for “Love and War,” The Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s Award for “Love & War” and Video of the Year for “Love & War.” Braxton, who plans to release a Christmas album this October, tweeted “So excited about being nominated for five Soul Train Awards! And thanks to all my #tamartian friends for believing in me.”
Rapper Kendrick Lamar leads the pack with six nominations. Justin Timberlake earned five nominations, Jay Z earned four nominations and Fantasia earned three nominations including album of the year. She’s set to go against Timberlake, Lamar, Miguel, Jay Z and Rihanna in the coveted category.
The 2013 Soul Train Awards will be taped in Las Vegas on November 8th and will air on both Centric and BET on December 1st.
