Jennifer Hudson Added to Cast of NBC’s ‘Hairspray Live’ and We All Rejoice
Such is the case with Jennifer Hudson, who many thought would be acknowledged for her performance in The Color Purple, but the Oscar winner wants to make it clear that she wasn’t surprised by the omission.
According to Vulture, in a since deleted tweet, Hudson responded to a fan about her snub with brutal honesty.
“My presence was used for my celebrity, not my talent. I’m not surprised.”

Well, damn! Despite Jennifer’s snub, The Color Purple did collect five nominations, including Best Performance By An Actress In A Leading Role In A Musical for Cynthia Erivo and Best Performance By An Actress In A Featured Role In A Musical for Danielle Brooks.
