My rediscovery for eyeshadow started in New Orleans at Essence Festival this summer. Another editor volunteered to do my eye makeup, and of course, I obliged. She insisted on painting me a smoky eye with a hint of metallic, and I loved it. I hadn’t willingly worn eyeshadow since my early twenties, but this beat that she gave me piqued my interest in the way of what shadow could do to elevate my look. Now I’m really getting into it, trying different color trends and classic looks.
Influencers and professional makeup artists offer inspiration, but most importantly, the gorgeous colors in the different palettes have renewed my excitement for playing up my eyes. My newest favorites range in price, color, and tone, so there’s something for every shadow lover, or doubtful consumer ready to rediscover his or her love for the product.
