What are five hair products you couldn’t live without? “Aunt Jackies’ Curl La La Defining Curl Custard and Dot K’s Hair Butter for twist outs, As I Am Coconut Co Wash for wash days, Eco Styler’s Gel with Moroccan Argan Oil and Shea Moisture’s Strengthen & Restore Leave-In Conditioner.” Let’s talk makeup, what are your go-tos? “L’oreal’s Infallible Pro Matte Foundation for foundation and Ben Nye’s Luxury Powder for setting. For lips I like Colour Pop’s Ultra Matte Lip in Beeper is my favorite pinkish-nude, I literally wear it everyday, and will freak out if it goes missing (ask my roommates). How would you describe your beauty philosophy? “There are literally no rules, so if you feel like rocking it, GO IN! Then, Humphrey’s Organic Witch Hazel for toning and almond oil for moisture. Once every two weeks I apply Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask to get rid of extra dirt.” Any personal beauty icons? “Grace Jones, because she publicly accepts and incorporates her feminine and masculine energies, which is what I’m all about! Erykah Badu is like my fairy godmother and is my everyday mood board; whenever I feel like I’m putting on too much I think to myself ‘what would Erykah Badu wear and would she care who thinks about it?’ Lastly, Beyonce because Beyonce.” What is the best beauty advice you’ve ever been given? “Black girls are always in style.” It’s currently freezing outside, so how do you beat winter dryness? “My lips can get very dry in the winter so I scrub with any flavor of Dot K Lip Scrub and always keep Dulce de Leche Lip Butter on me!” Self-care can be a huge part of feeling your best.
