After taking home six Billboard Music Awards, then having her vagina exposed in what is now being called V-Gate (by me), Cardi B has been on everyone’s lips. And while these were both major, they still haven’t taken away from the fact that the “I Like It Like That” singer looked smoking on the red carpet Wednesday night. ESSENCE got the scoop on how makeup artist Erika La’Pearl gave the rapper her flawless awards night face.
For skin: First Erika moisturized the star’s skin with POND’S Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Daily Moisturizer with SPF. “It is truly a must have [because] it won’t clog your pores and leaves your face feeling soft and silky.” Someone else was raving about POND’S earlier this week, weren’t they?
For face: She started with Koh Gen Do foundation. “Their foundation is everything!” she said. Then she set Cardi’s face using Koh Gen Do setting powder. For contouring Erika grabbed Anastasia Beverly Hills’ powder bronzer in Saddle, and then used So Hollywood from the same brand to get those highlights. Anastasia Beverly Hills was the go to brand for most of the makeup.
For eyes: The eyes were a multi-step process. To begin, Erika did brows, using Anastastia Beverly Hills DIPBROW Pomade in ash brown and Brow Wiz in dark brown. Then she buffed and set the brow using clear brow fill in. Then she used five colors from the Riviera Eyeshado Palette for the lids: Monte Carlo, Coastline, Palermo, Seychelles, Sails. You can’t forget the lashes. She used not one, but two sets of Starlet lashes by House of lashes to really give Cardi’s eyes that dramatic effect.
For lips: She opted for Freya lip gloss.
For Body: We all know that Cardi B needs no help making her body look amazing. To finish off the look and to give the rapper’s skin a glow that would be captured by any lens, Erika opted for Anastasia of Beverly Hills shimmer body oil.
