Jhené Aiko is well-known for serving serious hair and makeup looks (we’re still obsessed with the wavy pink bob she rocked this summer).
Recently, the pint-sized R&B singer collaborated with up-and-comer Gallant on “Skipping Stones,” and we can’t get enough of the vampy makeup look she wore in the video. We got the scoop directly from makeup artist, Felicia La Tour, on how to recreate the look.
“For Jhené’s look, we wanted to intensify her eyes and keep everything else fresh to make her eyes pop,” La Tour told ESSENCE. “We did a soft natural face as usual, always aiming for radiant skin.

La Tour created a combination cat/smoky eye using NARS black cream liner before setting with Urban Decay black shadow. She then stacked Ardell Demi lashes to feather out the eye, and kept the lips natural with OCC PennyRoyal lip liner.
If you’re wondering about Jhené’s slinky monochrome separates look, celebrity stylist Ade Samuel — who has also worked with Miley Cyrus and Nicole Richie — dressed her in an ensemble by desginer Michelle Mason. As for her accessories? Jhené is rocking Lust for Life shoes, a choker by The Shiny Squirrel, and a Vanessa Mooney necklace.
With the temperature dropping and Halloween just around the corner, this edgy cat eye will elevate any sweater-and-jeans combo. We’ll definitely be copying this look all season long.
