Shape up with a bold, new face-framing look.
SKIN CARE: Factors like dry skin in the brow area can leave arches patchy and sparse. “Scrubbing the brow area with towels or products with tiny grains can irritate the hair follicle,” says brow expert Dam?ne Roberts.
SHAPING: Take the guesswork out of brow shaping with Benefit’s new Brow Genie Tool. It’s a mobile app that lets you see what your perfect brows would look like before heading to the salon.
TINTING: If the thought of filling in your brows daily seems daunting, give brow tinting a try. The temporary dye takes to even the finest hairs, leaving behind eye-defining arches. Typically a shade will last three to four weeks, then slowly fade away.
EXTENDING: Just as there are salons for eyelash extensions, places like Blink Brow Bar in NYC offer eyebrow extensions (in which individual hairs are glued to the brow to fill and shape). The average cost is $170 for a set and $60 for fillers. Extensions can last up to three weeks with a careful face-washing routine using oil-free products.
TRANSPLANTING: Craig Ziering, M.D., of Ziering Medical performs a procedure in which hairs are taken from the back of the patient’s head and inserted into pretreated follicles on the brow. Real hair growth continues, even when the original transplant sheds. Typically, microscopic hairs are transplanted, but Ziering’s method uses longer hairs, which make results immediately visible to patients and allows for flexibility with placement. “Eyebrow transplants require tremendous detail to the hair direction and angle,” says Ziering. A brow transplant may run you anywhere from $5,000 to $7,500, and the results are permanent.
