In celebration of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and Star Wars’ female fans everywhere, Covergirl created a limited edition line of makeup designed to enable women to celebrate their fandom, transform their look, and express multiple sides of their personalities. If there’s anyone who knows a thing or two about embracing their true beauty, it’s Janelle Monáe. We caught up with that Star Wars mega fan while filming for the Covergirl ad campaign to get the scoop on her new galactic look (she’s the resistance pilot with killer blue eyeshadow!), and nail the deets the new film.
Janelle Monáe Tapped As the New Face of CoverGirl
“Through transformation, makeup and clothes included, you can show another side of you,” says Monáe. “Expressing my duality and accessing new superpowers is important to me. I’m also a huge Star Wars fan so I was geeking out the entire time!”
Divided into light and dark, there are ten mascaras that feature different quotes from the film, six new lipsticks in bold shades, each shade corresponding to one of the six looks, and three nail polishes. For the look Monáe used Covergirl’s Eye Shadow Quads in Breathtaking Blues, Tropical Fushion Eye Enhancers, Bombshell Shine Shadow in Gold Godess, and Star Wars mascara in very black. And, her lipstick included Star Wars lipstick in nude #70.
