We’re always here for flourishing Black businesses, and The Lip Bar certainly is one.
The brand, which first rose to fame after becoming one of the first Black-owned vegan makeup brands, is celebrating the line’s expansion into Target 44 stores nationwide this weekend. This is great news for the brand, which made an appearance on the entrepreneurial competition show Shark Tank where CEO Melissa Butler was challenged and criticized for her business model for the brand.
Butler, who formerly worked on Wall Street, knew that beauty was her calling after an unfilling career in finance. Passionate about creating a product that was for women’s empowerment and also wellness centred, The Lip Bar took off after gaining support on social media.
And in celebration of the launch, the brand has introduced two new and exclusive styles: ‘Unimpressed’ Matte Lip Glass and ‘Baddie’ Lip Gloss.
Make sure you stop by your local Target to grab one of these cruelty-free (and Black-owned) lippies!
