Ask any beauty lover to dip into her makeup stash, and you’re sure to find that one tube of red lipstick that she can’t live without. When I heard about Rihanna’s new RiRi Woo Lipstick by MAC, I knew that it would be one of those essential-for-everyday-sustainment reds. Yeah. It sold out online in a mere three hours and Instagram was all aflutter with beauty gals flaunting their online order email confirmations like they were a first-class ticket to Heaven so I knew I was in for a treat.
When the lipstick arrived on my desk, I whipped out one of my favorite desk mirrors (What, it’s not normal to have more than one desk mirror? Oh. ) and let the slathering begin!
Real talk— this stuff is matte. If your lips are showing the least little bit of parch, honey this is not the texture for you. Luckily, I used a gentle scrub (Origins Modern Friction is my fave!) on my lips just this morning so I was good to go. The color is so rich— I repeat, it’s very rich! I had no problem gliding it on, but without a lip liner, it would have been tricky to keep the color within the parameter of my lips since it’s so pigmented and dry. I lined with CoverGirl’s Lip Perfection in the shade Passion which helped a lot.
Many of you are wondering if there’s a big difference between this shade and the original Ruby Woo. Ehhh. I say, no, not really. Admittedly, I don’t wear red lips very often. When I do, I grab MAC’s Ruby Woo or Stila’s Fiery, so I’m pretty familiar with it, and I really can’t tell the difference between the two Woo’s. If you have Ruby Woo, you’re not missing anything, sweetie. Nonetheless, I definitely plan to add RiRi Woo to my reservoir of go-to reds!
According to MAC’s Facebook page, there will be another shipment of RiRi Woo arriving in June. Be on the lookout because it will sell out fast.
Did you get your tube of RiRi Woo yet? What do you think? Let’s chat in the comments section, gals!
