She’s got curls for days, cheekbones that make us green with envy and a serious affinity for winged liner. English singing sensation, Fleur East is definitely a beauty girl after our own hearts. The Ghanaian-English singer, who made her music debut on X Factor in 2005 as a member of pop girl group Addictiv Ladies, released her first solo album Love, Sax and Flashbacks last year, and has since become the It girl about town. From touring to press junkets, here a few beauty lessons we’ve learned from the singer about beauty and finding a happy balance between bold hair and makeup looks.
Easy Daytime Glam: Summer is here, so heavy foundations are out and glowing skin is in. Maximize your glow with liquid highlighters that can double as shadows to brighten up your gaze. Swirl a flirty pink blush on the apples of your cheeks and play up your pout with a matching lip gloss. To really enhance your stare, you can’t go wrong with a set of voluminous falsies to fan out those outer lashes. Top the look off with a single coat of mascara and spritz of your favorite facial mist for an extra boost of hydration (and a little more glow) and you’re good to go!
Color Play: If you’ve dyed your hair a bold, bright hue, it’s easy to look like you’re doing too much with minimal effort. The trick to rocking bold locks the right way is to find a balance in how you play with color. Fiery red hair looks playful and chic when paired with kohl-lined eyes and glossy lips with a hint of color. Whatever you do, you want to make sure your beauty look isn’t distracting people from the real star of the show—you! So play up your favorite feature and focus on minimalist beauty for the rest.
Basic Glam: Obviously red (or winged liner) is the quickest way to glam up any look. If your outfits permits, a good matte red is always a safe bet. If you’re wearing all white like Fleur East, then play up your eyes with a rosy-brown hue in your crease and add a set of luxe falsies. To keep the look fresh, focus on glowing, dewy skin and mist your face with hydrating essence.
Don’t forget about your curls! A little coconut and jojoba oil goes a long way to take your curls from needing prayer to being Insta—and camera—ready like Fleur East!
