If you’ve ever dealt with adult acne, then you know that it can be a pain to clear up—particularly if you never dealt with acne growing up. For many women, the thought of adult acne can be somewhat mystifying considering that teenage acne is often caused by that terrible hormonal influx experienced during puberty. The bad new is: acne isn’t just a teenage problem; the good news is: that’s not a death sentence. YouTube beauty vlogger, April Bee suffered from severe acne for years and found a way to treat it using two 2-ingredient DIY recipes using sea salt and the results are kind of incredible.
Needless to say, the thought of dealing with those pesky bumps and blemishes past the age of 16 is a daunting idea; after all, shouldn’t our hormones be in balance by the time we get a 401K? The answer is: sort of. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, “Women tend to get adult acne more than men do.” Studies have found hat adult acne in women is often linked to hormone levels—think: pregnancy, ovulation and menopause (life as a woman in general). Other adult acne triggers include stress, illness, genetics and of course, cosmetics.
If you find that your skin is hypersensitive or you are looking for a natural alternative to treating your acne before resorting to prescribed treatments like Accutane, then these DIY sea salt treatments may be worth a try.
