Remember the photo of the Sudanese student from Howard’s Homecoming that went viral last year? Well, her name is Anok Yai and she just landed a contract with major beauty brand, Estée Lauder, as its newest face.
Since being discovered for her beautiful dark skin, Yai has gone on to sign with Next Models and became only the second Black woman to open the Prada show since Naomi Campbell in 1997.
Yai shared that, “I am so excited to be a part of the Estée Lauder family. To be a woman of color representing an iconic brand that has continuously been at the forefront of beauty, is an honor,” she shared via a press release about the partnership.
Her first campaign with the brand will debut in August for the brand’s best-selling Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup which is now available in 56 shades. Yai is in great company joining Misty Copeland and other fabulous women who are the brand’s spokeswomen.
