As the new season rolls in and the weather changes, so does our skincare regimens. Luckily for us, Urban Skin Rx has just rolled out a limited-edition product collaboration with Basketball Wives star Malaysia Pargo. Pargo is known on the show as the loyal friend who keeps it real, and whose good side you always want to remain on. She’s also known for always looking her best, and having the most enviable flawless skin. So this partnership with the melanin skincare experts made perfect sense.
“I was a customer first of Urban Skin Rx. I used their products and I knew that their formulas work. I became an enthusiast of the brand, and with my love of skincare I researched it further,” Pargo told ESSENCE about the collaboration. “I reached out to the founder Rachel Roff because she is a dedicated expert. She understands my skin tone and I knew that by partnering with her that we could create something amazing.”
When Urban Skin Rx founder Rachel Roff first got into skincare, she scared her professors. In the middle of Charlotte, North Carolina where she studied to be an esthetician, she didn’t understand why the focus of the curriculum wasn’t meant to serve the community they were in. She began working with Black volunteers for her assignments, and became an expert in skincare for all skin types, including melanin rich skin. She has since formulated products to clear hyperpigmentation, scarring, uneven tone, and a plethora of other skincare issues that plague the Black community.
The Malaysia X Urban Skin Rx Skin Quench Oxygen Gel Mask is a hyaluronic-rich cleansing mask formulated to deep clean pores, reduce the appearance of fine lines, smooth texture, and brighten skin. A mix of peptides are also included for firming while also adding hydration to thirsty skin.
“It’s my goal that everyone feels amazing after using the product. I want to help put a glow on their face, and for them to feel like their skin is illuminating radiance from the inside out,” Pargo continued. “Our Skin Quench Mask is so amazing that sometimes my friends think I’m wearing makeup, but really it’s just my bare skin and some lashes.”
You can’t forget the lashes.
And for Pargo, lashes and other makeup are fun but they come second to making sure her skin is taken care of.
“Skincare is super important to me. I believe that even if you wear makeup you must make sure your skin is protected, hydrated and healthy underneath.”
