Dear Abiola,
This is embarrassing.
Can I be allergic to my husband’s sperm? I am 24, recently married, and I had sex unprotected sex with others before just fine before my hubbie. But whenever my man and I do the deed, I feel myself breathing funny- and not in a sexy way. I also get really red and itchy down there. Sometimes it even seems like my throat is closing up.
Before we got married I did use a condom with him and I never had these issues. But for the past 3 months it’s a nightmare.
I need a cooling off period afterward and he’s starting to take it personally because I haven’t really told him what’s happening.
Help me please.
Signed,
Breathless
Dear Sacred Bombshell,
My advice is that you need call an Uber and read this on the way to your doctor or healthcare provider.
Yes, there is such a thing as a semen allergy– and you can absolutely be allergic to your husband’s sperm. Seminal plasma hypersensitivity is a reaction to proteins found in a man’s semen. Like a food allergy, it can suddenly begin for no reason.
My concern is that vaginal itching and redness can also be related to other issues including sexually transmitted diseases.
Don’t wait- run to your doctor. Tell her your concerns. She can find out whether you’re allergic to your husband’s sperm, having another kind of medical reaction, or even perhaps having an anxiety attack. If you were anxious for some reason about sex, symptoms could manifest in all kinds of ways.
I am glad that you’ve found your sacred King- now let’s take good care of the beautiful Queen.
Passionately yours,
Abiola
