The Oprah Winfrey Show is still one of the highest-rated talk shows of all time. Running for 25 seasons, Oprah and her show became a staple in American culture. Covering some of the nation’s most heartbreaking, inspiring and surprising stories over the years, we think it’s safe to say she’s a boss.
Iyanla Vanzant, Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz, Suze Orman; the list goes on. Oprah has the magic touch that can take a business from on the map to out of this world. There’s a name for when businesses and careers are catapulted into success when endorsed by her called, “The Oprah Effect” and it’s very real.
Quite possibly one of her most noble accomplishments, Oprah built a school for young girls in South Africa in 2007. The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls prides itself on teaching young women fundamental leadership skills. Often referring to them as her daughters, Oprah has been dedicated to the education, growth and safety of her students.
The pun is intented. After hosting The Oprah Winfrey Show for 25 seasons Oprah announced she would be quitting her daytime TV show to launch her own network. Although the network got off to a rocky start, Oprah pushed through and OWN is consistently bringing in high rating numbers. OWN is just another example of Lady O’s perserverance.
Oprah rang in the year 2000 with the launch of O Magazine, bringing her lifestyle and inspirational know-how to the print world. She mangaed to successfully translate her brand while fiercely appearing on every cover. The magazine celebrated it’s 15th anniversary in April.
