Brie Bythewood may not have one of the strongest storylines on Bravo’s Blood, Sweat, and Heels, but it’s not because of a lack of personality. “People are always like where is she?” she says. “This girl sits in an office and has a job. I actually have stuff to do, investors to meet with, my job isn’t a social job it’s in business.”
ESSENCE sat down with Bythewood to find out more about the third generation New Yorker. Here are seven things we learned:
1. She’s worked in real estate for seven years:
I’ve worked at my family’s real estate development firm for the past seven years; I’m currently a partner there. I also got my real estate license about a year ago and have been selling and renting residential properties ever since.
2. When producers reached out to her about the show, she thought she was being pranked:
The producer called me on my direct work line, that’s a number very few people have so I’m thinking it was one of the interns or someone in the office. So I told him, ‘Really, really? You think I would be interested? Well since you’re such a great investigator why don’t you figure out what my email address is and send me an email about it.’ About 15 minutes later I got an email from his work email address. I apologized in my response. We became fast friends later.
3. She believes being a lady starts with how you treat yourself:
Always be true to yourself, be respectful of yourself and others, but stand up for yourself as necessary. I think that’s as classy as you can get.
4. Her celeb crush is Marlon Waynes:
Oh my God, I love that man! I saw Marlon on stage recently and I was like, ‘He is so fine!’
5. You can’t be in her circle unless you can get along with all of her friends:
If you can’t get along you can’t be in my circle. My friends have to get along because I’m a connecter; I like to bring all my circles together because I love spending time with my friends. Whether we’re out at a restaurant or cooking dinner at someone’s apartment; my favorite way to spend my spare time is with quality people.
6. She’s part of the Beyhive:
I love Beyonce and Alicia Keys! They’re my favorites.
7. She loves playing ‘Two Truths and a Lie’:
I’ve flown a plane. I’ve nearly drowned. I’ve driven a racecar. Can you guess which one’s a lie?
Answer: She’s never flown a plane.
