Imagine sitting front and center, while learning the ins and outs of writing and recording your own song from none other than the legendary Alicia Keys. Well, now you can do so—from the comfort of your living room.
MasterClass, the streaming platform which makes learning accessible to all, just announced that 15-time Grammy Award-winning artist Alicia Keys will be joining the service to teach a class on songwriting and producing. “I cannot stress enough the power you have when you’re truly confident in yourself,” said Keys. “In my MasterClass, I’m excited to connect on a different level. We’re gonna talk about what I’ve learned, my process and how to access what’s inside of you, so you can connect and get it out into the world.”
MasterClass, which has grown in popularity and gained A-list attention, with courses from everyone such as Shonda Rhimes to Serena Williams, helps people learn from the world’s best across a range of subjects. In 19 digestible video lessons, Keys will not only reveal her complete approach to songwriting but also share her inspiring philosophies on how to unlock authenticity, empathy and vulnerability. The program is designed for artists of all levels and all creative disciplines, so you don’t have to already be a featured musician or celebrity to learn a thing or two from one of the best songwriters of this generation.
The MasterClass will home in on Keys’ distinctive process of “songwriting with soul” and take members through the top-to-bottom process from developing lyrics, to recording and layering vocals, and finally arranging sonics. As a particular treat for fans, Keys breaks down her own songs “No One” and “Fallin’” to exemplify the overall process.
“Alicia is simply a legend,” said David Rogier, founder and CEO of MasterClass. “She appeals to and unites her audience with empathy and empowerment. In her MasterClass, Alicia not only breaks down her creative process, but deconstructs her most influential songs. She inspires all of us to control our power and purpose.”
