Amber Rose has no qualms about challenging traditional gender roles. Yesterday (November 8), the VH1 talk show host posted a video to Instagram of the adorable Sebastian, her three year old son with rapper Wiz Khalifa, prepping for a pumpkin-colored manicure and pedicure.

“Hey, pumpkin, are you excited to get a pedicure and manicure?” Rose asked her son. “It’s gonna be so cool,” she continued, before asking what color he wanted his nails painted, to which Bash replied, “orange.”
And although the post was meant to encourage creativity and self-expression, it also stirred up lots of negative backlash. Unsurprisingly, the video’s caption is proof that Amber was fully prepared for the onslaught of social media trolls.
“Pumpkin nails with Mr Skully Bones #HalloweenisNeverOveratOurHouse,” she wrote. “We encourage our children to paint, draw and be creative so why block them from their creativity when it comes to self-expression? F*ck society standards and gender roles! Let your children be great!”
Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to quiet those who muddied up the comments section with hateful homophobic statements, such as, “Let us see the finishing product. You have a little gay baby boy in the making”.
Thankfully, there were also a number of people in favor of the mother-son moment.
One user wrote, “Gender roles aren’t valid, they are just created by us dumb a*s humans to try and suppress women in all honesty. F*ck gender roles. It’s f*cking paint on nails, its f*cking expressive…Get it together ya’ll. It’s not 1920”.
Another commented “A lot of parents could learn from you and Wiz.”
Do you agree?
