Angela Simmons is in mourning after her former fiancé and her son’s father, Sutton Tennyson, was shot and killed in the driveway of his Atlanta home on Saturday. He was 37.
The Atlanta Police Department told People magazine that they responded to a shots fired call in Tennyson’s neighborhood around 5 p.m. on Saturday. When they arrived, they found a man “lying deceased, with multiple gunshot wounds, inside an open garage.”
Police officials would not identify the deceased man as Tennyson, but the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the lifeless body discovered was indeed Tennyson.
Initial findings in the department’s homicide investigation revealed that multiple shots were fired after an argument broke out between Tennyson and a man who “sped from the scene in a car.” That man is the primary suspect at this time.
Simmons shared her grief on Instagram, sharing a slideshow featuring pictures and videos of Tennyson with their 2-year-old son, Sutton Jr.
“Thank you for leaving behind my greatest gift,” she wrote to Tennyson in the caption.
“I’m hurting. I’m numb. Thank you for the out pouring of love everyone. I can’t believe I’m even saying Rest In Peace Sutton. I promise to hold SJ down in every way. I promise,” she continued.
She also posted a video of their son, watching a video of himself and his father playing in a swimming pool.
“Reflecting. He keeps replaying it. RIP Sutton,” she wrote. The message was accompanied by a fitting emoji choice: A broken heart.
Her siblings expressed their sorrow about the family’s loss on Instagram as well.
“Literally at loss for words my heart breaks for my sister and nephew. RIP Sutton,” wrote her older sister Vanessa.
Her brother Jojo publicly committed to stepping into Sutton Jr.’s life as a positive influence.
“NOBODY DESERVES DEATH,” he wrote, “I’m posting this post because I just remembered your last words you said to me when I saw you last ‘Hold it down bruh.’ I didn’t know I would have to hold it down this way. God works in crazy ways but I’m here to be the man for your son to look up to and call whenever he needs me ! #RIPSutton @angelasimmons I GOT YOU.”
Simmons and her son will definitely be needing support from all of her family members in the wake of this sudden tragedy.
We will be keeping them in our prayers.
