Ava DuVernay took to Twitter to show love for friend and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.
Headed to the film’s premiere Monday night, DuVernay tweeted, “We edited our films across the hall from each other for 8 months. We talked in our edit bays, on walks around the lot. About our films, our dreams. Tonight, his comes true.”
The premiere of Black Panther was a star-studded event with the film’s stars walking the red carpet in African-inspired clothing and accessories.
The film is currently expected to have a massive opening with surveys showing the film will reach between $100-$120 million and could possibly be the biggest standalone film for a Marvel character.
And, DuVernay has a blockbuster of her own on the horizon. Starring Storm Reid, Oprah Winfrey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and more, A Wrinkle In Time hits theaters in March and the buzz around the film is deafening.
Both Coogler and DuVernay are on track to have an incredible year.
