Seems Azealia Banks is actually a fan of Cardi B, despite calling the rapper a ”poor man’s” Nicki Minaj.
In a since-deleted rant, Banks went after the “Bodak Yellow” rapper and Charlamagne tha God for his continued support of the song, adding that the radio and television personality never gave rapper’s like Remy Ma or Nicki Minaj the same kind of support.
She wrote, “Charlemagne and black men in hiphop should have gotten me, remy AND nicki a number one before they gave cardi or iggy one. But literally white guys buy black men away from black women and it’s soo cringe…black industry men [are] spinning this ‘for the culture’ story when they are simply letting white men at Atlantic buy them into hating their own women.”
Cardi didn’t miss Banks’ diss and responded by sharing a video of Banks turning up to “Bodak Yellow.” “One of the reasons Bodak Yellow went #1! Cuz even the HATERS love it!” she wrote.
“Bodak Yellow” currently sits at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, making her the first female rapper to top the chart with no features and the first female artist to do so since Lauryn Hill in 1998.
If your song can reach number one and even your haters love it, you’ve got to be doing something right.
