The City of Hope Gala took over Los Angeles’ at Barker Hangar on Thursday night as guests gathered to raise money and awareness to life-threatening diseases, including cancer and diabetes.
The evening not only included performances by Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, who opened the night with a performance, but also gospel duo Mary Mary and Beyoncé, who performed a soul-stirring rendition of Ava Maria as her husband Jay-Z watched from the audience.
The rapper also presented an award to Jon Platt, chairman and CEO of Warner/Chappell Music, who was honored with the Spirit of Life Award. He joined other past honorees, including Quincy Jones and Clive Davis.
Others celebrities we spotted included Bey’s bestie Kelly Rowland, Tiffany Haddish, Jermaine Dupri and Pharrell, who hosted the festivities.
