The iconic Billy Dee Williams recently opened up about his gender fluidity, sharing that he has always been in touch with both his masculine and feminine sides.
“And you see I say ‘himself’ and ‘herself,’ because I also see myself as feminine as well as masculine,” he told Esquire in a interview, referencing a point earlier in the article when he used both pronouns.
“ I’m a very soft person,” he continued. “I’m not afraid to show that side of myself.”
So how does he best describe himself? “I never tried to be anything except myself. I think of myself as a relatively colorful character who doesn’t take himself or herself too seriously.”
Many on social media immediately praised the 82-year-old actor, who made waves as Lando Calrissian in The Empire Strikes Back in 1980. He will be returning to the universe as his character in J.J. Abrams last installment of the Star Wars trilogy, The Rise Of Skywalker, out in December.
