Blac Chyna is coming under fire for promoting a skin lightening brand.
The former reality show star announced on Instagram Tuesday that she will travel to Lagos, Nigeria later this week to promote her new collaboration with skin lightening company, Whitenicious by Dencia, which describes itself as a “luxury skincare line” on its website.
“Lagos Nigeria, join me at the first official launch of my face cream this Sunday November 25th at the Whitenicious store from 1-5PM,” she wrote. “Everyone is invited.”
She has since had to turn off comments under the post.
A representative for Chyna told TMZ that she has been using the brand for years to help manage hyper-pigmentation. Her goal, she said, is to help other Black women who have similar “skin issues.”
Critics were even more befuddled at the price of the lightening cream, which runs a whopping $250.
Blac Chyna isn’t the only celebrity to have touted the brand, owned by Cameroonian musician, Dencia. Back in 2006, rapper Azealia Banks also praised the product, announcing that she had been using it for years.
“The truth in a pink box. I LOVE this product @whitenicious!!” she said in a now-delated Instagram post.
Blac Chyna’s launch party will take place this Sunday in Lagos.
